Whodathunkit?

Welcome to my latest adventure in the blogosphere. If you are reading this post, you are either: (a) my little brother, who suggested we should blog this experience, (b) another curious relative, or (c) someone who got lost on the internet. Whatever the circumstance, welcome!

If you do know me IRL, then you know that I've lived my life in cities and suburbs, surrounded by neighbors. Sometime later this year, that is going to change. You see, I married a fella who compromised his desire to live in the middle of nowhere with my need for someone from whom I could borrow a cup of sugar (and I actually have done that!) for the past couple of decades. We decided it is his turn to choose where we live for a while. So we found a big piece of land in southern Frederick County and we are building the next chapter of our lives there.

The land has woods, a creek, and lots of open space for a house. We'll be at the end of a lane that is 9/10 of a mile, so my morning walk may just be to the mailbox when we live there. The views are gorgeous and the few folks we've met who live nearby are delightful. I'm still wrapping my mind around the notion of living someplace that is "off the paved road" and doesn't get Chinese food delivery, but I've been won over by the smile on my man's face and the promise of a music room of my own.

The builders just broke ground so it will be 6-8 months before we make the move. Meanwhile, if you are interested, I'll share photos and tales here as the process unfolds.
